Tufted Duck

Aythya fuligula

Description:

Well, it has a tuft, alright. The males have white flanks that contrast with the black body. Golden yellow eyes. the female is uniformly brown.

Habitat:

This is a Hotel cum Apartment(s) in a place very close to Cirencester. The HUGE property has open spaces with hares gambolling and even hiding in the car parks...and it also has a large lake. Some rooms have a lake-view and I was lucky to spot quite a few (common) species.

Notes:

This is a migratory bird.
