Abies balsamea
Grows in the north/northeastern states of the US an Canada. Trees grow typically up to 45-60 ft with a narrow conic crown. Bark is smooth and grey. Leaves are flat-needle like at about 1/2 - 1" in length.
Boreal forests
Located under resin blisters in the bark or dripping down its trunk, sap can be used as an antiseptic for wounds. Can also be used to produce a cold remedy or glue.
