Description:

Bold black and yellow markings with iridescent blue spots on the hindwing's top surface. Also, the upper surface of the hindwing has a yellow-orange eyespot near the tail with a round black center that is not connected to the hindwing margin. Wing span: 2 3/4 - 3 1/2 inches (7 - 9 cm).

Habitat:

Spotted sunning on a gravel road in the Wenas Wildlife Area of central Washington State.
