Vermilion Waxcap Mushroom

Hygrocybe Miniata

Description:

Young mushrooms have dark red caps. Mature mushrooms have fading red to orange to yellow caps. Waxy feel. Gills are attached to the stem. Teeny tiny. Less than 3 cm in height, and largest cap is approximately 1 cm in diameter.

Habitat:

Old, unmaintained suburban yard on soil in between exposed roots and fallen leaves under a magnolia tree.

Notes:

Cutest, most colorful, mushrooms ever!
