Rufous-tailed Scrub Robin

Cercotrichas galactotes

Description:

Rufous-tailed Scrub Robin or the Rufous Bush Chat, is a small, distinctive bird with pale orange-brown body and a brighter rufous tail and a faint white supercilium. The throat is typically paler than the rest of the body, often white, and the underparts are creamy. It measures about 15 cm in length, with a particularly long tail which it frequently cocks upward.

Habitat:

This species prefers open, dry areas with sparse vegetation such is the one in Chichaoua of Maroc, where it was observed. It is typically found in scrublands, open woodland edges, orchards, and sometimes in more cultivated areas and gardens that offer good ground cover. It thrives in Mediterranean-type environments where it can often be seen perched low in bushes or on the ground.

Notes:

Un unexpected lifer today again, as this beauty flew inside the frame, as I was aiming at a lark nearby... Maroc is definitely treating me well for now... On another note, the Rufous-tailed Scrub Robin breeds in southern Europe, the Middle East, and the western part of South Asia, with its range extending into parts of Africa where it is a resident breeder in some areas and a summer visitor in others.
