Description:

The Purple martin is not very common in Washington State but they do migrate to the west coast of North America in the spring. They are the largest swallow in North America. Adult males are black with a steely blue sheen. Females are mostly dark above with lighter underparts and they also have some steely blue sheen.

Habitat:

Spotted in a wetland at the Flaming Geyser State Park in Washington State.
