Cascade Glass Frog

Sachatamia albomaculata

Description:

males to about 30mm, dark green with numerous yellow spots on the dorm and limbs, bones are dark green

Habitat:

rainforest in lowlands and foothills, Pacific and Caribbean side

Notes:

One of 4 species of glass frog spotted while night hiking in Yatama reserve. No parental care is evident with this species. They lay their egg clutches in a unique horseshoe pattern on a leaf above a stream and then abandon them. The eggs hatch and the tadpoles drop into the stream below. Due to it being night, I don't have any general habit shots, but this was about knee height on a leaf on a small shrub next to a fast flowing river.
