Mottled duck

Description:

The Mottled duck is one of the few ducks that doesn't migrate. Both sexes are brown and buff. Males have a bright yellow bill with a black spot at the tip. The Female's bills are orange, see pic 3 for comparison. They have a tawny head and neck which is lighter than the rest of the body. They have a black eye stripe and white under the wings.

Habitat:

Spotted at the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center.
