A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Phalaropus lobatus
Typically, when I do see these I see them in a small group. This one was swimming around alone for a while, but at least it had its reflection to keep it company. I think it was a subadult, but its yellow breast marking is something I haven't seen in photos online or in my bird book.
A few miles offshore and several miles from town near a rock covered in Glaucous-winged gulls and Black-legged Kittiwakes.
