Female Birds of the North East
Please contribute photographs of adult female birds belonging to dimorphic species (those species where the appearance of males and females are markedly different). It would be particularly helpful to include field notes in the description section for the spotting to highlight the bird's distinctive features.

Many dimorphic bird species are recognized easily by the more vibrant colorations of the male birds, while the females of the species are more easily overlooked and misidentified. This mission is an attempt to bring the more subtle hues of the female birds of the Northeastern U.S. into clearer view, helping those in the field to identify them with greater accuracy.
