Pinecrest Gardens Explorers

Pinecrest Gardens Explorers

Students, teachers, parents, educators, and the community are invited to join this mission in exploring the flora and fauna of Pinecrest Gardens, Florida. Naturalists, aficionados, volunteer scientists, and taxonomy experts are invited to participate by using their expertise in helping identify student observations submitted to the mission. We will work together to find, photograph and identify as many species of plants, animals, microbes, fungi, and other organisms as possible within the Pinecrest Gardens Park. Students in grades 2-12 from Miami Dade County Public Schools will participate in guided field experiences to Pinecrest Gardens during the school year 2012-13 to •Discover, count, map, and learn about the flora and fauna in the park. • Provide students, scientists and the public an opportunity to do fieldwork together. • Add to the park’s official species list. • Highlight the importance of protecting the biodiversity of these extraordinary places and beyond.
