What's in your backyard? Vermont Secondary College
Take a close look at your backyard. You'll find it is teeming with life. Look up in the trees, in the bushes, in the soil and under rocks, logs or bark.
** Be very careful - wear gardening gloves, closed shoes and long pants - you could uncover snakes, lizards or spiders. Don't touch anything you find, just photograph it. And ask your parents if it is OK first.

GET YOUR PARENTS PERMISSION BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS MISSION.
Look in your backyard for animals. They may be small and shy, so you may have to look under rocks, logs, pots or rubbish. Be very careful and wear protective clothing in case you uncover a snake or spider. If you find something, photograph it and leave it alone. Replace objects you overturned so you don't wreck the animal's home.
If you uncover a snake or lizard: LEAVE IT ALONE AND GET YOUR PARENTS. Some lizards are poisonous, too.
