Identify that Tree - California

This mission is to document the native tree species throughout California and improve you skills in identifying plants. If you are unsure of a plant, post it and the class can have a discussion/debate to identify it and determine whether or not it is local.

Post pictures of leaves from local trees including any seeds, flowers, fruit, or other growth as well as the bark and branches. In your description include the type of leaf arrangement (alternate, whorled, or opposite) it has, fill out what you believe the Common and Scientific Name of the specimen is, and include whether you believe it is a native, non-native, or invasive species. Add as much data as possible to your description so it is easier to identify (i.e. length of pine cone or color of fruit). Also, include where the tree is found specifically around the world (as well as locally) and give at least two uses of it in the industry.
