With the thousands of plants and vegetables creating seed pods of lesser known varieties, the identification of the pods can be an extensive enterprise unless the plant, flower and pods are readily available for matching.

Pods are produced by plants to help with the delivery of the seeds and to encourage the transportation of the seed away from the parent plant. With many fruits and vegetables, the seed pods are edible and the seed is disbursed in this fashion. These common seed pods are easily recognized such as the tomato, the apple, corn and more.
