Danaus genutia
The Common Tiger (Danaus genutia) is one of the common butterflies of India. It belongs to the "Crows and Tigers", that is, the danainae group of the Brush-footed butterflies family. The butterfly is also called Striped Tiger in India to differentiate it from the equally common Plain Tiger Danaus chrysippus.
Sure Pam, we both are very good friends. The ID pic is same (for 3 of us) as we are in the same pic. On the right is Atul, in the center is Yogesh Save and on the left with the binocs is me. We are from the same area and good friends.
actually both these butterflies , the striped and plain are very common .
At least in our part they are seen together.
you can call me Pam, Satyen, that's my name! Are you and Atul brothers? You have the same ID picture! And you both comment on my photos...
thanks Satyem and Atul for your comments and support... I've been waiting to see one of these in my garden this year. There are s.o.o.o many of the Plain Tigers, not many of these in this area it seems...
