Latimeria- I think you're right. The top of the bug looked just like that. But they kept running away from me, so I couldn't get one from above. For some reason, this little guy was okay with me taking his pic while he was upside down?! Haha. Thanks so much for the ID help! :)

Not an assassin bug nymph--the head isn't constricted. It looks like it might be a boxelder bug nymph or something similar. Don't quote me on that, that's just a cursory glance.
