Menecles insertus
Similar in appearance to the Dusky Stink Bug (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/796...), except the edges of the pronotum are rounded rather than pointed. M. insertus are arboreal herbivores and are considered a crop pest particularly to fruit trees.
Widely distributed throughout North America. Nocturnal living in trees.

Susan, I think yours may also be Menecles because of the rounded pronotum,
