Chrysotoxum octomaculatum

Description:

Syrphid. Chrysotoxum is a genus of hoverfly. This fly presents a typical case of "Bayesian mimetism" so it simulates a wasp to avoid predators, who avoid the "aposematic" colours due to previous bad experiences with wasps and bees.

Habitat:

Pine tree forest. Parque Nacional de Sierra de Guadarrama
