Geometrid Moth

Iotaphora iridicolor

Description:

Overall background is light green, with double shade orange wavy lines and orange brush smudges, with each side deep blue three curved short strokes and peripheral incomplete straight pen strokes. Wingspan: 55 mm.

Habitat:

Wall of a monastery surrounded by forests. Altitude about 3,100 m.

Notes:

I spotted this very beautiful looking moth this morning at a popular Buddhist Chapel (Enchey Monastery), 3.00 km away from Gangtok. I was struck by the intricate patterns on its wings, almost like those on the walls of the monastery!

I'm at the 7th heaven, especially when the good news comes from nothing less than the PN creator himself. With each pat on the back my efforts to document nature will ever remain greater. Thanks Yasser.
