derbid planthopper

family Derbidae

Description:

small plant hopper with large wings held erectly in a V shape, not sure of the ID, but it is in the family Derbidae

Habitat:

monsoon forest

Notes:

It was my first time spotting a plant hopper like this. I had only seen them on PN, so it was really cool to see one in the wild. Unfortunately after I took these photos, I came back about 15 minutes later to find 3 ants trying to overpower this insect. I took the ants off but it might have already been too late for the hopper. Alas Purwo national park.
