Rocky Mountain Parnassian. This butterfly was on the ground but it was alive. I've never seen one like this one before.

Habitat:

Pine forest at 10,000 feet elevation.

Parnassius are high-altitude butterflies around the world, and you don't tend to see them unless you climb mountains. This one was probably trying to get warm in the sun.
