A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
About 1.5 cm long, green body, black head and spot on his tail. Hanging by a silk thread from a tree.
Several found hanging from various trees in Bledsoe Creek State Park near Gallatin, Tennessee.
Shooting these guys was tricky since the *slightest* wind would blow them out of the camera frame.

Hm... I'm stumped! I checked this website's (http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/speci......) local lists of moths and butterflies for Sumner county and they only listed one silk moth... and this wasn't the caterpillar for it. So I have no idea what it could be. Anyone help?
I can't really make out enough detail to be able to identify this with any certainty but check out this link & see if it matches your recollection of this caterpillar

Okay, thanks.
Anyone else have an idea? :)
Hi Kymberlee, not sure what species this is but it isn't a polyphemus moth caterpillar as this species does not have a black head http://lifecycle.onenessbecomesus.com/Li...
