phredshome,it does seem like a Echinocereus species.
Echinocereus apachensis.,seems to be too spiny. Maybe these plants will became as spiny when they mature?

Echinocereus apachensis... my best choice there are just so many choices when it comes to these cylindrically ribbed beauties
