Description:

1 3/8 - 2 11/16. Named for the large colorful eyespots on upper side of wings. Multicolored eyespots, pale forewing bar, orange bars across forewing cell, and orange near wing margins.

Habitat:

Favors open sunny habitats. Often sits on bare ground.

Notes:

It was flying around the tennis courts on a mild, sunny morning in april.
