Indian Peafowl/Blue Peafowl (male)

Pavo cristatus

Description:

The male of this species of peafowl, famous for its beautiful plumage display.

Habitat:

Mesker Park Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Evansville, IN, USA

Notes:

These birds are allowed to free-roam throughout the zoo, so visitors can often get within one or two feet of the bird. However, it is ill-advised to attempt to touch or harass these birds (as I am sure many unsupervised children and inebriated adults can attest to).
