Chicken eggs

Gallus gallus domesticus

Description:

While I was visiting family, early for Easter, it was mentioned that her 26 free roaming hens had been stashing their eggs in hidey spots under trees. Here's what we found when we started searching. It was a real egg hunt! As you can see in pics 3 & 4 - these were some egg laying fools!!

Funny story - no the chickens aren't left out at night and they have nesting boxes in the large aviary. My cousin was telling me that since she's been letting them out, their egg production seems to have tripled. She hadn't realized that they were laying so many under the trees until one went over and started clucking her head off when she saw my cousin, like she was ratting out the other girls for hiding their eggs!

Are the chickens left out all night? Very productive hens. They need someone to hunt down the eggs regualrly.
