Eastern Painted Turtle

While I am posting this on the Mission "Moms with their Babies," it is perfectly likely that this juvenile is not, in fact, the offspring of the larger adult turtle. From my reading and observation, the mother turtle does not seem to take an active role in rearing her young after they hatch. (Please correct me if I am in error here!)
