I found this one drinking water at a pool. It is one of the largest species of wasp in this area and measures about 1 1/4" long

Thanks Marlyn, I have been stung by these guys and it isn't any fun at all!
I believe its a venomous wasp , but no worries it is a beautiful insect too.
