Helleborus orientalis
Even though this plant is called Lenten "Rose", it's actually part of the Buttercup family. Blooming prior to Easter, this plant serves as an important nectar source for emerging insects.
Originally from the Greece/Turkey area of the world, this plant does naturalize - this specimen has a happy home at our local butterfly and hummingbird garden.
