Wood Stork

mycteria americana

Description:

Wood stork having a squabble with a Great Egret, possibly for the nesting rights on this particular tree. This went on for a few minutes, however the Egret won the stand off. Many of the water birds were carrying twigs around today, preparing to nest I presume. Notice the beautiful green irredescence of the storks wings.

Habitat:

wetland

Notes:

This particular pond in the slough was jam-packed with water birds today. It was a very impressive sight including several species.
