Humpback Grouper

Description:

Also known as Barramundi Cod, Barramundi Cod Grouper, Barramundi Cod Humpback Grouper, Humpback Grouper, Hump-Back Rock-cod, Humpback Sea Bass, Flatfish Grouper, Highfinned Grouper, Highfin Grouper, Panther Grouper, Pantherfish, Polka-dot Grouper and Mouse Grouper. They feed on small fish and invertebrates, and grow to a length of about 65cm.

Habitat:

Found singly and very reclusive, often on dead silty coastal reefs and lagoons. Juveniles also reclusive hiding in caves and crevices. Depths of 3 to 100m. Widespread in the Indo-Pacific region.

Notes:

Spotted this grouper at a depth of about 20m, at a "cleaning station" -- a cleaner wrasse was attending to it as we watched.
