Spotted redshank

Tringa erythropus

Description:

In non-breeding plumage, similar to redshank but larger and with proportionately longer legs and bill. Breeding plumage birds (rarely seen in region) have almost black plumage. In flight, wings are uniform; those or redshank show white wingbar.

Habitat:

Favours coastal marshes and often wades in comparatively deep water. Widespread passage migrant. Winters in small numbers.

Notes:

Non-breeding plumage.
