Accipiter Tachiro
This was photographed at a Raptor Bird Sanctuary here in Pietermaritzburg, Kwazulu Natal, South Africa
The bird is way too large for Sparrowhawk, and note the slanting superlora area, which gives it an "angry" look.
Thanks Xiaoxuan, I'm not 100% sure if it's a Eurasian Sparrowhawk, I think it may be an African Goshawk, but I could be wrong
Hi, thanks for the comments. This was shot here in South Africa (in Kwazulu Natal).
Wonderful photo! Such a predatory look!! I'd agree with Mary, but isn't this bird in South Africa? I don't think either species is there. (or is the map wrong?) It definitely looks like an accipiter though! Great spotting!
Nice spotting and photo - this looks like it maybe a sharpshinned hawk, or possibly a coopers hawk.
