Day Lilly

Hemerocallis Fulva

Description:

The flowers grow on a stalk and there are several flowers on each stalk. They are different colors but the one we found was not in bloom and when in bloom it will be orange. The flowers that are about 3 1/2 inches only last one day! All of the different colored ones are really pretty. The flowers bloom from June to August. At the bottom of the plant there are lots of skinny pointed leaves.

Habitat:

You can find it on the edge of roads or in meadows. We found the Day Lillies on the edge of the path on Little Chebeague!

Notes:

My resource was The National Audubon Society Field Guide to New England. We found a lot of other plants and insects on our field trip to Little Chebeague!
