Red Sand Boa

Eryx johnii

Description:

While herping in the Thar Desert, came across this Red Sand Boa (in situ)during the night. Unfortunately, there are many myths surrounding this species in India. From calling it a two-headed snake to considering them a good omen for success in business. They're one of the worst affected species of illegal trade.

Habitat:

Spotted this individual on a sand dune, digging itself into the loose sand.

Great spotting! Congrats, Vipul.

WOW! Vipul Ramanuj, did you actually witness it burying itself? Amazing! More pictures would have been great. I saw pictures and it is a beautiful snake.
