Egg Cowrie

Ovula ovum

Description:

If you see two holes on a soft leather coral, you are probably looking at where two Egg Cowries have been feeding the previous night. Somewhere nearby they will be hidden in a crevice and like sloths they will appear to be doing very little but their insides will be crackling with chemical reactions as they neutralise the toxins in the coral and digest its flesh.
