Description:

Brittle stuff, like a cast left behind by an earthworm or something. Those of my PN friends who are from India, or have visited, will agree that this looks like a "jalebi" albeit one made out of soil or worse.

Habitat:

Very prominently displayed on a leaf.

Notes:

A confession: I have no idea what this is...but it looked interesting...and definitely biological in origin. Looking for some suggestions.

Mark...it would have to be a very large bird...but I think you are right (like always :) , droppings were what I thought too...like earthwork casts. Looks like that short visit has yielded many peculiar finds.

..or maybe reptiles above?

Well a biological agent anyway. I have seen mud casts like these in various wet areas made by burrowing creatures... but bird is most likely here I guess. Another opportunity to be the first to do the science. 8-)

Interesting find, Sukanya. To me it looks like droppings, maybe from a bird. Hope you'll find an ID.
