Part of the family Myrmeleontidae, and named for the predatory nature of the larva.

Habitat:

Spotted in Mosi oa Tunya Park this one 'played dead' when picked up by our guide. They prefer sandy soil so as to dig small 'pits' in the ground which trap ants and other small insects. New photo added - this shows the Ant
