Hybridized Mallard

Anas platyrhynchos x peking

Description:

These ducks were too large and strangely-colored to be a purebred Mallard. My theory is that they were hybridized with domestic (Pekin) ducks. Seen at Punalu'u black sand beach on the big island of Hawaii.

this could also be a hybrid of Rouen Duck X pekin.
Rouen Ducks, which belong to the Heavy Weight Duck Class, have beautiful, unique, attractive color patterns and are one of the most popular duck breeds for exhibition. Rouen's are sometimes called "Big Mallards" or "non-flying Mallards" because both males and females have the same color patterns as Mallards. They make excellent pets because of their large size and docile nature.

Standard weights at maturity are male-9 lbs, and female-8 lbs.

Mallards are known for hybridizing . In fact scientist fear that this could lead to loosing pure mallards,
