Northern Gannet

Morus bassanus

Description:

Large waterbird that spends most of its life at sea. White with black wingtips, long white bill and long white tail and pointed wings.

Habitat:

Nests on offshore islands and inaccessible cliffs. Forages offshore. Winters at sea.

Notes:

These birds finally cooperated and came a little closer to shore. There were dozens, including a few juveniles (one can be seen in photo #5), that put on quite a show.
