Buteo buteo
After having no luck spotting the ground for some breakfast, this Common buzzard engaged in a bit of toiletry. Check out the whole sequence and see how it broke part of the oak branch it was perching on when it finally took off!
Large oak tree, semi-rural.
The Common buzzard is the most common raptor in this area all year round.

Thank you birdboy8000 and Caleb!
nice series, love that last pic especially!
amazing picture
I think the order they are in is great! Just really funny the order the first two ended up in :)
Thank you Ashley and António! I know what you mean about those membranes. I changed the order of pictures at Dr. Sherpa's suggestion, but there seems to be no perfect solution :-)
Seeing those nictitating membranes like in photo 4 always creep me out a little! Going from the 1st to the 2nd photo it seems she is placing the feather back in her tail ;) Great series, Daniele!
Very cool capture Danièle,she is in the makeup process :-)
congrats and thanks for sharing
Thanks Dilan! Glad you like it.
Great series!!Nice!
Thank you Jae!
Great serie, Daniele.
Yes, I realised the sequence, but this shot deserves to be the lead!
Thanks for your appreciation Dr. Sherpa! These are shown in the sequence they were shot, but I'll take your advice and do the swap. I spotted this bird at sunrise as I was enjoying my breakfast; the light was soft but a little low. I did not need to step out of the house, but I did discreetly open the window :-)
Nice series, and funny too! What about 3 for 1st? It's dramatic and sharper too!
