Snowshoe Hare

Lepus americanus

Description:

Fur is white in the winter, but brown in the summer. Distinctive markings are the white flanks and the black tufts of hair around the ear. The hind feet are larger than most hares giving them the "snowshoe" nickname.

Habitat:

Mendenall Glacier Bay.

Notes:

Came across three of these adorable little hares while walking on the beach. Happened to get the action shot with my first picture.
