Yes you are completely right! I'm originally from France and when I first arrived in Australia I was immediately amazed by the fact that there are so many different types of birds from the Parrot super-family all around the city and parks.. Cockatoos, Gallas, Rainbow Lorikeets..
Where I lived a few months back, I had them every morning on my own balcony... A truly genuine pleasure!
