Eastern rat snake

Pantherophis alleghaniensis

Description:

5'5 to 6' in length, had a small injury on his head, possibly from a recent hunt. Dark black body scales with cream belly scales, and dull gold markings. Seemed to be in good health, and was of a hefty weigh.

Habitat:

Meadows, fields, woodlands, farmland. May be found under debris.

Notes:

Was found basking on the road and was relocated to a fallen tree, much to his loudly vocalized and musky displeasure.
