Buteo lineatus
deciduous woodlands, often near rivers and swamps
Lucky shot of the day. Driving in to Everglades National Park early in the morning, I hadn't gone in pass the gate but a few yards and I see this fellow just perched right there on a speed sign by the road side. I stopped the car, put the window down, and was able to take quite a few photos before it flew away. It was the closest I've ever gotten to a wild raptor (not counting black vultures).
