Royal Tern

Description:

This highness of royal terns was spotted amongst a group of gulls, sanderlings, ruddy turnstones, and other terns. Willets and snowy egrets held themselves to be separate from this group. It appears to be mating season for the royal terns. Beautiful orange bills!

Coastal Beach

Notes:

The royal tern is protected in the USA under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
