Spotted on weekend hike at Edge of Apallachia - Perennial herb, 3 to 10 inch tall from short fleshy root. Flowers: 2 lateral petals and 3 sepals - pink to lavender. - forms a hood - white lip. Pollinated by insects.

Habitat:

Rich hardwood forest.
