Yellow-headed Blackbird

Xanthocephalus xanthocephalus

Description:

adult male is mainly black with a yellow head and breast; they have a white wing patch sometimes only visible in flight. The adult female is mainly brown with a dull yellow throat and breast.

Habitat:

grassy meadows and pastures; also in some croplands, weedy fields and grassy roadsides

Notes:

It breeds in loose colonies and places its nest over water, attached to cattails and reeds.
