Citrus reticulata
I went to the food store about a week ago, and I bought a bag of tangerines. Some tangerines were a little damaged, but only one tangerine, had three areas of damage on it. Some mold damage, and maybe some worm damage. ( I forgot to open up this tangerine, to see if there was a worm inside ). There was three areas on this tangerine, that had some damage to it. One area, was dark orange, and in the center of this area, it was a circle of gray coloring. Another smaller area, just above the first area, had a hole in the skin. The color of this area, was different shades of brown. This hole, might have been caused by a worm? To the left of this area, was two areas of dark orange. One small area, and one large area.
Citrus reticulata, is grown in tropical and subtropical areas, including: Florida, South Carolina, Arizona, Texas, and California. They are found in sunny warm areas, throughout the world. The tree is somewhat cold-hardy, and tolerant of drought, but the mandarin fruit itself, is very delicate and sensitive, to the cold.
I found this one, damaged tangerine, in a bag of tangerines, that I bought at a food store, about a week ago.
