Mark...the Chintamani Kar Bird Sanctuary is where I saw this...cannot go back there till the next free day....plus they won't let me remove stuff...I thought you see these near your house...so I'll let you go on with the "hands on "stuff; I'll do the online ferreting. But thanks for letting me know it is not a bagworm's case.
Well you might have to be the first to do the science and I will be keen to see the results. :-) You will be forgiven for taking one apart. Leave it as unknown until then.
Mark, This is the first time I hav eseen anything like this...what should I call It? I was hoping someone on PN could tell me what this is...I was the one hoping to learn :)
Hi Sukanya.. I dont' this is bagworm. They don't usually hang by a long silk thread and they don't waste their efforts by making materials that aren't used a part of the 'bag'. They are always complete and discrete and mobile as a home. I see these things often in the bush around here but have not yet analysed one. I always thought it was frass tangled onto a silk covered egg mass maybe... If you can provide a link to support your idea I will be more than happy to learn. :-)
